"This project is one of the first involving mechanical processing and sorting of waste in South America ever," says Tor Erik Knutsen, Finance and Administration Director at TiTech AS.
"This project is of great strategic value to us. We expect the South American market to become important for TiTech in the future," he says.
Cabelma is one of South America's largest manufacturers of plastic crates, with customers such as Coca Cola, Pepsi and other breweries. They also supply boxes for fruit and vegetables, as well as plastic buckets of different kinds.
Cabelma wants to expand its operations, and invest now in a state of the art system for receiving, sorting and processing PET bottles. The final product, flakes of PET, is sold to plastic and fiber manufacturers, mainly in the Chinese market.
GIEK already has four ongoing guarantees to TiTech for buyers in South Korea.

GIEK has issued a supplier credit guarantee to TiTech AS. The guarantee regards sale of an optical sorting system for packaging waste to Cabelma Argentina SA, one of South America's largest manufacturers of plastic crates.
