Reinsurance agreements
In recent years there has been a marked increase in the cooperation between Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) of various countries. This kind of cooperation is by now a significant factor for the exporter and the exporter’s bank in situations where the exporter has production in more than one country and in situations where financing is sought for projects which include deliveries from exporters in several countries.
OECD
Through the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), a system of international regulations for export credits and associated guarantees has been built up over the course of many years.
Paris Club
The Paris Club is an informal group of creditors (19 countries) which was established in 1956, when Argentina’s debt was renegotiated for the first time. Their main task is to find a sustainable solution to the payment difficulties of indebted countries in close collaboration with the IMF and the World Bank.
Berne Union
GIEK is a member of the Berne Union, which is the leading international organisation for export credit insurance and foreign investments. The Berne Union was established in 1934 and currently has 54 members in 43 countries.
